Hi, I’m Crystal, Founder of Collage and Wood, Host of The Simple and Smart SEO Podcast and your Challenge Host!
This 3 Day Challenge is the exact event I wish I could have participated in when I first started my journey towards designing my own online store to sell my handmade products.
Here’s my story:
It all started by the birth of my son. As an athlete and volleyball coach, I was no stranger to challenges, but the idea of balancing motherhood with work seemed impossible.
And the cost of childcare was an easy no.
I needed a solution that would allow me to be there for my son without compromising our financial stability.
So, I turned to my passion for creating handmade photo collages on wooden letters, a project I once did for my volleyball team.
My personal values, centered around my faith in Jesus Christ, my commitment to being a good wife and a great mom, and my relentless work ethic are the foundation of my business. To me, entrepreneurship is an extension of sports competition - a constant challenge to outdo yesterday's performance.
Overcoming personal challenges, including abandonment by my birth mother to a heart attack in 2020, has shaped how I run my business. Each setback has only strengthened my resolve to prioritize what truly matters - living a creative, meaningful life and making a positive difference in the world.
Every email I answer, every product I create, is a testament to my commitment to making our customers feel genuinely cared about and important. I know what it's like to feel unrecognized, and I want to make sure our customers - particularly moms - feel seen and appreciated.
Incorporating my faith into my business, I respect and value the dignity of every individual, recognizing their worth as creations of God. As a biracial woman in an interracial marriage, I understand the struggles of those who feel marginalized and strive to create an inclusive space through my business.
Entrepreneurship comes with a unique set of challenges that even your best friends might not understand.
I know you crave the accountability of a guide who knows the way. And the "they get me" feeling in a group of like-minded business owners.
After my heart attack, I realized two things:
1: I wanted to live a creative life. Creative in practice, as a business owner. Creative in career. Meaning I could work when I wanted and where I wanted. Selling online and teaching other people how to do the same checks both boxes.
2: I couldn't take it with me. All of the knowledge, tips, tricks, mistakes, insights from running a handmade e-commerce store - I wanted to put it out in the world to help the next woman like me with a dream to set her own priorities.
That's why I started the Simple and Smart SEO Show podcast, and that's why I'm hosting this challenge!
