Why Use SEO for Your Podcast?

There are a few reasons why you should be using SEO for your podcast.

The first is that it will help people find your podcast in the first place. If you have a great show but no one can find it, it's not going to be very successful.

The second reason is that using SEO can help people understand what your podcast is about. This is especially important if people are just finding your podcast through a search engine.

By including relevant keywords in your show notes and description, you can help people understand what they can expect from your podcast before they even start listening.

Finally, using SEO can also help boost your ranking in search results. This is because of something called "Google Juice."

Google Juice is a term that refers to the link between two websites.

The more links there are between two websites, the higher the GoogleJuice and the better the chance of showing up higher in search results.

So, by including links to your website in your show notes and description, you can give your website a boost in the search rankings.

Spelling matters in SEO - it's all about showing up for the right keywords! This graphic spells the words "facts" like "facst"

Now that we've talked about why you should be using SEO for your podcast, let's talk about how you can actually do it.

First, check your spelling! 😳

There are a few different ways that you can use SEO for your podcast, including optimizing your show name, notes, and description.

We'll go over each of these in more detail below.

Optimize Your Show Name

The first step in using SEO for your podcast is to optimize your show name.

When people are searching for podcasts on a search engine like Google, they're going to see your show name first.

So, it's important to make sure that your show name includes relevant keywords so that people can immediately understand what your podcast is about.

For example, if you're starting a podcast about baking, you might include keywords like "baking," "cooking," or "recipe" in your show name.

This isn't the time to get clever - you want to show up when people search for your topic!

Optimize Your Show Notes

Your show notes are another important place to include relevant keywords. Remember how we talked about GoogleJuice earlier?

Well, one of the things that increases GoogleJuice is links between two websites. So, by including links to other episodes or articles on your website in your show notes, you can help increase your website's ranking in search results.

In addition to links, be sure to also include relevant keywords throughout your show notes so that people can understand what each episode is about before they even start listening.

For example: In our 16th episode, we're talking all about utilizing seo strategy for our podcasts!

Here are 3 tips we think will be helpful:

1) Utilize keywords in both the name of your show as well as in the tags/description field when uploading episodes onto hosting sites such as iTunes or Spotify.

This will make those episodes more easily found when potential listeners do related searches within said platforms!

2) Utilize tools such as Jasper.AI (Copywriting assistant tool) & Searchie.IO (Tool used to create transcripts of audio/video files) to come up with creative transcriptions & track keyword placements throughout.

3) Be open and seek out advice from friends or experts who already have experience with effective digital marketing strategy - they might mention additional tips!

Generate Transcripts

If you want people to be able to read along with your podcast episodes or share quotes from them on social media, you're going to need transcripts.

Fortunately, there are a few different tools that you can use to generate transcripts of audio or video files quickly and easily.

One of our favorites is Searchie.IO.

Searchie.IO offers both automatic and manual transcription services so that you can choose the option that best fits your needs.

And best of all?

You can pay a low monthly fee that includes unlimited machine transcription!
